The Nigerian Army has denied news making rounds regarding the closure of Maiduguri – Kano Road.
Many travelers who attempted to travel out of Maiduguri Wednesday could not.

According to Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director Public Relations, Operations Lafiya Dole Theatre Command, the information ‘is not true.’
He explained that ‘what is happening is an ongoing clearance and snap checks operations in the general area required to clear suspected Boko Haram terrorists along that road.
‘The clearance operation is ultimately for the safety and security of motorists and other road users.’
In the release, he called on the members of the public to cooperate and bear with the troops as they carry out these duties
